Thusday 21st August

After a cooked breakfast with fruit pudding, quite good actually, we set of to Dumbarton in search of a new tyre for my (Chris) bike. 5 miles later we arrived at Halfords in Dumbarton, I set to work replacing this while Liz went to go and update the blog in McDonalds. I also had to replace the back brake pads on both the bikes as they were wearing thin. All was going smooth until Liz returned sans internet connection as the computer would not conenct to the internet for some unknown reason. So thats why the blog took so long to get updated. Anyway after fiddling with liz's brakes for ages i noticed that the wheel was actually slightly bent, hence not being able to stop the brake pads rubbing. As the massive halfords did not have a bike mechanic in until 5pm we decided to make as good a repair as possible and sort it out later being that it was now lunch time! After a chicken and pasta fueled cycling lunch we set of in high spirits ready for a good days ride. Most of the roads and cycle paths were great.....

cyclepath

and the terrain was mostly flat much to our legs delight. After an interesting navigation exercise in the centre of Glasgow that involved two maps, google maps on the phone and some magical reappearing /disapearing cycle paths we got out the other side of Glasgow and made it to Motherwell about 9.30pm. 42 miles for the day, no reccord breaker but most of this was done after lunch so i don't fell to bad about it.

BridgeQuotes of the day:

Liz: 'I am glad we don't have to cycle over that big bastard bridge!' (liz does not do heights)

Scene: Chris and Liz enjoy a sit down and break by the side of a cannal, Three joggers go past.
Liz: they look like they are running really fast.
Chris: You can run that fast
Liz: Well maybe they just look fast cos I'm sat still
