Monday 25th

Leaving Carlisle in the rain and wind, it was slow going and we followed the A6 to Penrith, arriving around lunchtime completely wet through. After a leisurely lunch (trying to dry out and warm up in a pub) we headed off to Shap. The rain and wind continued and it was hard work cycling. We arrived at New Ing Hostel in Shap and had a nice evening in the warm. Only managed 33 miles today but we got to Shap so we were happy with that.
